My First Recording Studio!

A photo of a similiar Toshiba ghetto blaster to the one that I used between 1998 and 2002 to record tracks and demos. I believe the unit dates from the mid 1980s. The early tracks were on acoustic guitar with empty oil drums and vocals, using the single built-in mic of the unit, then it was just on acoustic guitar and vocals. After Christmas 1998, vocals were recorded through auxillary input with a mic I had acquired and the instrumentation moved to a mix of acoustic guitar, electric guitar and bass guitar. The sound quality was crude, but it got ourselves recorded. I am not exaggerating when I write that I was probably involved in the making of 50 albums using this device - which is sadly now long gone, though some of the recordings made on it I still have. After drifting apart with friends and entering my mid-teens I deemed the trusty old device no longer adequate for my needs - the resulting sound quality being very amateur-sounding and I stopped using the recorder shortly before joining my first school band Non-Applicable. The unit stayed gathering dust on a shelf for a few years, then put into garage storage, and I think it sadly ended up getting skipped in the late 2000s / early 2010s.
